  • Iowa beat Washington 41–24 on Friday, October 9, at Husky Stadium. The road win moved Iowa to 5–1 before its October 17 bye and the next trip to Minnesota.

Kamari Moulton carried the largest share of the offense: 208 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries, including a 56-yard score late in the first quarter. Iowa’s recap identifies the rushing total as a career high. L.J. Phillips Jr. added 42 yards on ten carries, and Iowa finished with 263 rushing yards.

Jeremy Hecklinski completed 14 of 19 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns in his first career start. DJ Vonnahme caught two touchdown passes; Reece Vander Zee caught the other and led Iowa with 69 receiving yards on three catches. Together, the run game and passing efficiency produced 465 yards of total offense.

  • The defense held Washington to minus-four rushing yards and recorded six sacks. Cam Buffington and Preston Ries had two sacks apiece, according to the recap. Iowa built a 27–3 halftime lead, though Washington’s second-half passing response gave Parker material to address at the bye-week press conference.

The win offers two different lessons for Minnesota preparation: the offense can support a new starter with a productive run game, and a commanding early lead does not eliminate the need for clean second-half defense. Both are better guides than treating the final margin as a forecast for the next opponent.
