At 5–1, Iowa turns toward Minnesota.
A road win in Seattle gives the Hawkeyes a week to settle their quarterback plans and sharpen the defense before October 24.

Iowa gets its first pause after six games with a 5–1 record and a road trip to Minnesota next. The October 17 bye separates the Friday-night win at Washington from an October 24 visit to Minneapolis. Wisconsin then comes to Kinnick on October 31 for Homecoming. The order matters: two different settings, two different opponents and no Iowa game this Saturday.
The first half included a 16–13 win over Iowa State and a 20–19 win at Michigan, alongside shutouts of Northern Illinois and UNI. Ohio State handed Iowa its lone loss before the Hawkeyes responded in Seattle. Iowa followed that loss with a 41–24 win over Washington.
Tim Lester’s October 13 media session put the quarterback decision in context. Jeremy Hecklinski handled the Washington start after Hank Brown was banged up against Ohio State. Brown had resumed some throwing in practice, but Lester had not announced a starter for Minnesota. He expects both quarterbacks to contribute during the second half. That is a competition to follow, not a settled depth-chart change.

Phil Parker’s agenda is more specific than a generic reset: communication in a changing secondary, cleaner tackling and fewer second-half pass penalties. The defense started quickly at Washington but allowed two long drives after the Huskies changed quarterbacks. Those details explain why a road win still leaves work for the bye.
Minnesota’s final kickoff remains unconfirmed. Iowa’s schedule lists two possible afternoon times and television as TBD; ESPN marks its timestamp unconfirmed. The newsroom will use a confirmed kickoff when one is published. Until then, October 24 is a date to circle, not a time to invent.
